Imagine you lived in a world with only 2 dimensions, perhaps on the surface of some cosmic table. If a sphere was to fall through your world, then it would start of as a point, grow into a circle, then shrink again into a point and disappear. Above is an animation of the cross section of a cube falling through a flat land.

This is what a dodecahedron (a 12 sided 3d shape made from pentagons) would look like if it fell through our flat world:

And lastly here is a mystery shape falling through, intersecting our plane:

That would surely confuse the inhabitants of a 2D world. If you can figure out what shape that is in 3 dimensions, then post me your answer on Twitter, the comments or whatever. [this is a good video exhibiting a flat land]
